Lots of interest in Namibia from our clients this week – and a lot of great travel writing out there about this amazing country too.
We particularly liked an article in Getaway Magazine from Welcome Lishiva.
He travelled from Windhoek (the major international airport in the country, across to Walvis Bay) to Walvis Bay which is the airport closest to Swakopmund. There they spent time with the flamingoes at Sandwich Harbour (a large lagoon) and the wildlife that lives in the enormous sand dunes there (some of which are over 30 metres high – that’s over 12 storeys).
For a totally different landscape (the assumption is that the whole country is desert which isn’t the case) he drove onwards to Etosha, which offers fertile, green, rolling hills and of course an abundance of wildlife to match it.
First time visits to Namibia are all about vast landscapes, other-worldly scenery and wildlife – the country also has a fascinating pre-colonial and colonial history which is less easy to access but definitely rewarding.
We offer a range of self-drive and fully guided trips through Namibia – such an inspirational destination.
