We had occasion to donate some clothing and other items we no longer needed during a clear-out at home last week. We took the items to U-Turn, a charity shop on Long Street, Cape Town.
Whilst we were there, we found out some more about U-turn: it’s an NGO working with restoring dignity and hope to homeless people in Cape Town but in a most creative way.
For example, you can join them on an experience they are currently advertising on Air BnB called Beat of the Street. It’s a drumming circle for the homeless that happens on a regular basis at U-turn’s service centre which you can be a part of.
You’ll be co-hosted by U-turn staff and experienced drummers. You’ll learn how U-turn uses hand-drumming as a therapeutic tool, while explaining how drumming helps build toward U-turn’s pathway out of homelessness.
Price start at R650 per person for the experience and obviously all funds go towards supporting U-turn’s work.
