Where It All Began

Transport Selection Policy

At Where It All Began, we are committed to promoting sustainable travel practices and minimizing our environmental impact. Our transport selection policy outlines guidelines for choosing transportation options for business-related trips and client travel to prioritize public transport, minimize emissions, and encourage eco-friendly alternatives.

1. Business-Related Travel:

  • For research purposes and other business-related travel, employees should prioritize the use of public transportation options wherever feasible.
  • Whenever possible, electrified transport options such as electric trains, trams, or buses should be chosen over conventional fossil fuel-powered vehicles.
  • Employees are encouraged to plan their trips efficiently to minimize the need for long-distance travel and to combine multiple appointments or activities in a single trip.
2. Flight Selection:
  • Short-haul flights should be avoided where possible, and alternative transportation options such as trains or buses should be considered for distances that can be covered within a reasonable timeframe.
  • If air travel is unavoidable, employees should utilize tools such as Google Flights to select the lowest emissions flight option available for their itinerary, taking into account factors such as aircraft type, direct routes, and fuel efficiency.
3. Client Travel:
  • When arranging travel for clients, we prioritize public transportation options such as trains, buses, mini-buses, and scheduled flights over private rental cars, private tour vehicles, or charter flights.
  • Clients will be provided with information and support to facilitate the use of public transport options, including schedules, ticketing, and transportation assistance as needed.
4. Eco-Friendly Alternatives:
  • Where It All Began offers a range of journeys that have low to zero emissions, including those on horseback, by sailboat, by bicycle, or on foot.
  • Employees and clients will be encouraged to consider these eco-friendly alternatives when suitable for the destination and travel requirements.
5. Compliance and Implementation:
  • Compliance with this transport selection policy is mandatory for all employees involved in trip planning and booking.
  • Employees will receive training and guidance on sustainable travel practices and will be encouraged to incorporate these principles into their trip planning processes.
  • Regular monitoring and evaluation will be conducted to assess the effectiveness of the policy and identify opportunities for improvement.

By adhering to this transport selection policy, Where It All Began aims to minimize our carbon footprint, promote sustainable travel options, and contribute to a more environmentally friendly tourism industry.
