Tucked away 50 meters from the main guesthouse, this one-bedroom, double-story chalet is designed for two adults. It boasts an indoor and outdoor bathroom, a modern farm-style kitchen, and a sunset deck in a serene forest setting. The top floor offers majestic views through large windows, immersing you in the treetops, mountains, and forest. Here, you’ll find a comfortable queen-size bed and a free-standing stone bath for a relaxing soak with tree and sunset views. Following this satisfying meal, your horseback adventure begins. Well-trained and reliable horses will take you on an exhilarating ride to Noordhoek Beach. Kick off your day with a scenic 4-hour horseback ride through the breath-taking Western Cape countryside, surrounded by the unique fynbos and the dense indigenous forests. As you make your way to Witkraans Farm in Gansbaai, you will take a break for a delicious lunch to refuel before continuing the journey. Along the way, you will be surrounded by stunning scenery and fresh air. After the ride, you will have time to freshen up and relax before dinner.

DAY 3 is shaping up to be another action-packed day! You’ll start with a 5-hour horse ride from Witkraans to Stanford River Lodge, with a lunch break en route. During this ride, you’ll be traversing through coastal shrubland and beach dunes, which will give you a chance to experience the distinctive and diverse ecosystems of the area. The coastal shrubland, also known as fynbos, found exclusively on the southwestern tip of Africa and is known for its high diversity and endemism. The beach dunes, on the other hand, provide a glimpse of the coastal terrain and its dynamic nature.

Dinner will be served at the Stanford River Lodge, where you’ll be able to enjoy a delicious meal set against the beautiful panorama of the Klein River Mountain Range.

Nature and Horses: An Epic Journey

On DAY 4, gear up for an exciting journey as you embark on a 7-hour horse ride from Stanford River Lodge back to Farm 215, with a lunch break in between. During the ride, you’ll have the opportunity to gallop along the beach at Walker Bay Nature Reserve. The nature reserve, known for its wide variety of flora and fauna, offers an opportunity to spot a variety of birds and marine mammals.

DAYS 5 - 8 in Pongola
Final Gallop: A Safari Farewell

DAY 5 of your holiday is going to be a transition day as you will be transferring to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Durban King Shaka. After checking in, you’ll have the chance to join a guided bush walk. The guided walk will give you a chance to explore the natural beauty of the area, discover the different fauna and flora, and learn more about the ecology of the region. Walking the numerous bush trails is the best way to work up a healthy appetite! After the walk, you can relax and unwind at the lodge before dinner. On DAY 6 and 7, you’ll dive deeper into the natural beauty of the area with horseback safaris and game drives through Pakamisa’s unspoilt wilderness. The horseback safaris combine the pleasure of riding with the thrill of a safari, and is a great way to get up close and personal with the local wildlife, landscape and culture at a gentle pace. The game drives transverse the 2 500 hectare reserve in the rolling hills of Zululand. Here you’ll experience the magic of the African bush, stopping at scenic spots throughout the reserve for the ever-popular sundowners and picnics. Day 8 marks the final day of your horseback safari holiday and the culmination of an incredible journey. As you depart from Pakamisa Lodge and head towards King Shaka Airport you’ll have one last chance to take in the spectacular South African wilderness. Your heart filled with lasting memories you’ll board your flight back home, already planning your next incredible adventure in our beautiful country. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
